With a foundation started in the Christian church, Walter began playing by ear at an early age.  He learned the basics of reading music by participating in jazz and marching band from elementary through high school. He then continued his music education with the Solano Community College Jazz Band and the Music Institute. Walter is known as a versatile live performance and studio musician working with Gospel, Smooth Jazz, R&B, Funk, Neo Soul, Alternative, Latin and Blues artist.

He was the drummer for independent contemporary jazz artist, jazz pianist and composer, the late Cecil Ramirez and currently accompanies many smooth jazz artists to include but not limited to Lin Roundtree, Mark Felton, Jeff Ryan, and Jeanette Harris.
